Testing out the zenit 12XP for the first time with helios lens

Some moments from a little road trip we made out to the Blue Mountains in Sydney, Australia so I could shoot a roll on my new Zenit 12XP.

All the photos here were taken on the Zenit 12XP were shot on Portra 400. It was my first time shooting with 35mm film for a few years, as well as my first time shooting with the Zenit, so I felt a bit out of my element. It was really jarring not to see what I was capturing but that's also the beauty of shooting with film! haha

I tried to take a variety of images to really see the quality of the lens, taking note of the bokeh, focus fall off, infinity focus, sharpness, etc. I'm pleasantly surprised with the shots I got out of the camera but in retrospect I realised I underexposed a lot of my shots as the internal light meter is broken (oops) and I can't get a hold of the batteries required for it.

Overall, I think this camera lends itself to portraits so I will look to shoot a roll of portraits for a future video/gallery. Stay tuned! :)
